President Sends Delegation to Rabat, Urges Falcons to Bring Home Record 10th Title
As Nigeria’s Super Falcons prepare to battle hosts Morocco in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has thrown his full weight behind the team, urging them to seize history and clinch a record-extending 10th continental crown.In a stirring message released on Saturday, Tinubu praised the players for their impressive performance throughout the tournament and described their campaign as “awe-inspiring.” He expressed unwavering confidence that the Falcons would triumph in the final showdown at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.
“You stand at the cusp of greatness,”Tinubu declared.

The President also commended the team’s humanitarian gesture in visiting South African player Gabriela Salgado, who was injured during the semi-final clash. He called it a “touching act of compassion” that reflected Africa’s shared values of unity and empathy.
To underscore the government’s support, Tinubu announced the deployment of a high-powered presidential delegation to Morocco. The delegation includes Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite; Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; and Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, among others.
He also extended appreciation to the families of the players, the coaching crew, the Nigerian community in Morocco, the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, and the country’s diplomatic mission for their steadfast backing of the team.
Recalling the Super Falcons’ dominant run to the final — remaining unbeaten in the group stages, cruising through the knockouts, and conceding just one goal — Tinubu said, “If statistics won trophies, you are already champions.”
