I went to buy mortar for my customer today. After paying, the seller told me to put a small amount of money inside the mortar. I ignored her.

When I got to where I wanted to enter Keke, EVERYONE started telling me the same thing: “Put money inside!”

I still didn’t understand what was going on until the Keke driver said, “If you no put money inside, you no go enter.”

At that point, I had no choice. I put ?100 inside and entered.

Abeg, who can explain this tradition to me? Why do people put money inside a new mortar before taking it home? ??

Is it tradition, or superstition? This is the first time I'm hearing this.
